Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) invites applications from member agencies for community engagement projects that inform, educate, market, promote, and involve the community in decarbonization. The purpose of this grant program is to fund projects that educate the community on building and transportation electrification in innovative ways. Projects must be new engagement initiatives that educate the public on the benefits of switching from gas-powered appliances to all-electric appliances while highlighting specific technologies (e.g., heat pump water heaters, electric vehicles, induction cooktops) and communicating how these technologies reduce carbon emissions. SVCE has allocated a total of $500,000 in funding for this program and anticipates awarding 5-8 grants. Applicants can request up to $100,000 for a given project and may apply only for a single project. Example projects include in-person educational events, induction cooktop campaigns, electric bookmobiles, art installations related to climate change and electrification, children's play areas featuring all-electric playhouses, and development of jurisdiction-specific rebate programs for electric appliances.
