The DIDF Partnership Pilot was designed to procure Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) to avoid or defer utility distribution investments. Through this pilot, aggregators of Behind The Meter (BTM) resources would partner with PG&E and be paid to dispatch DERs to meet specific grid needs according to their contractual obligations, potentially allowing for the deferral of traditional utility investments in the electric grid. The pilot was initiated in compliance with California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Decision 21-02-006, February 12, 2021. However, in accordance with CPUC Rulemaking 21-06-017, dated June 21, 2024, the DIDF Partnership Program has been off-ramped and there are no future solicitations planned.
