This competitive Program Opportunity Notice (PON) seeks proposals from eligible businesses to demonstrate the potential uses and performance of medium- and heavy-duty battery electric vehicles (MHDEVs) in Maine. Funding recipients must purchase and place into operation at least one Class 4-7 electric vehicle (14,000-33,000 lbs GVWR). Vehicles must be operated in Maine for at least three years. The program offers incentives for: (1) vehicle purchases, (2) Level 2 vehicle chargers, and (3) professional services such as consulting. Program objectives include: demonstrating and measuring the practicality and benefits of battery electric vehicle technology in medium/heavy-duty vehicle duty cycles common in Maine; assessing the cost-effectiveness of MHDEVs by comparing total cost of ownership versus internal combustion engine equivalents; and gathering data for future Efficiency Maine offerings and to inform future policies and programs related to medium/heavy-duty vehicles in the State.
