The California Energy Commission's Clean Transportation Program is announcing the availability of up to $7,000,000 in competitive grant funding for projects to design, engineer, construct, install, test, operate, and maintain a hydrogen facility in California. The facility must produce 100 percent renewable hydrogen from in-state renewable resource(s) and will serve as a source of renewable hydrogen for transportation fuel applications. Projects must produce hydrogen that meets California regulations for dispensing at hydrogen stations for use in on-road fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), including both light-duty and medium-/heavy-duty vehicles.
The solicitation was released on April 9, 2021, with a submission deadline of June 16, 2021, at 5:00 PM. A questions deadline was set for April 28, 2021, at 5:00 PM. A pre-application workshop was held on April 23, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM via remote access only. This solicitation has been awarded, with the notice of proposed award issued on February 3, 2022.
